Term 3 reflection at PCS

Term 3 Reflection At Pompallier Catholic School

This term has been awesome! My learning goals this term were Basic Facts for Math, Surface features for literacy, and Resilience for personal goals. I think I am ready to move on from Surface Features and resilience because I have practiced resilience through hard math problems and surface features by writing and editing more. I am still going to learn Basic facts at home to get 100 questions right on my basic facts sheet. It will be a huge achievement.

My highlights this term would have to be cross country because I came first in the year 7 girls school cross country and made it to the inter-schools where I came 3rd in the 11 year old's. After that I made it to Peria where I tied 15th with Chris! My other highlight this term was the Sandra Silberzweig art and learning because it was so much fun doing her art!

Things I have persevered through this term are definitely the math books that Mrs Cutler gave us. But I finished most of the problems with Caleb. I can not wait for next term and I really hope we are able to do more out-of-school activities and art.

How has your term been?

Quality Blog Comment Animation

WALT: teach someone on an animation how to do a quality blog comment.

I really enjoyed making these animations. The part I enjoyed mostly was just being creative and fiddling around with my favorite animal. The most challenging would be making the speech bubbles because I struggled putting them in the right place!

Have you ever done an animation?????

Little Red Robin Hood Show At PCS

Little Red Riding Hood Show At Pompallier Catholic School

At school,  Playhouse Theater came and performed for us. The show was about this King called King George and he wanted all the tax money to build a wall to block off the magical creatures who he thought were dangerous. But when Little Red Robin Hood  hears about all the money being taken she decided to have a bow and arrow contest and if she won she would get all the money and give it back to the poor people and if the King won he would get to imprison Little Red Robin Hood and keep all the money to build a wall. But thankfully she won. My top 3 favorite parts was when Kaden went up and played the air violin and he was supposed to have a sad face but instead he had a happy and sad face and that made him end up with a bright red face! My other part was when these other knights had these horses and their names were Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber. I also got to pat them and they were quite squishy. My last favorite part was when Little Red Robin Hood's Grandma was allergic to gluten and she had this sausage role and it had massive amounts of gluten in it and she really wanted to eat so she went and ate it and she was bringing it closer to her mouth and went " CHEW CHEW CHEW" and it did not end well after! I loved Playhouse Theater and I really hope they come back again to Pompallier catholic school.

Mud race in Peria

Mud Race In Peria
Last Friday I went to the cross country inter schools at Peria. Me and the 11 year old girls were waiting for our turn for a long time. I was racing with some of my friends from my school and some from Kaingaroa like Shay, and Zara. It was finally time to go so we lined up and got ready to go. "Ready, set...." we waited as the man called out. "GO" and we sprinted off. It was not the easiest start at first because everyone tried to push in front but they did not have much luck and ended up getting pushed over so I stayed behind for a while. But as I was going down the hill a huge mud pool was waiting down the bottom for us. I realized I had to suck it up and sprint through the mud. When I got out my legs looked like chocolate fingers! It was pretty hard for the first 2 laps but the last one was brutal. My legs were aching, my shoulders were so sore and I was running out of breath. I caught up to Chris and she was struggling a lot. I held her hand and said " If we can accomplish this race we can accomplish anything we just have to make it to the end." When we crossed that finish line we still held hands and tied for 15th place. I had trouble breathing after because I was sore all over. I knew the first thing I would do when I got in the car would be to take the worlds most relaxing nap!!!

Extreme Ice Skate

Extreme Ice Skating

On Friday we went ice skating! It was a very wet day so parents ferried us down to Te Ahu where we were waiting for the exiting moment. A couple minutes later everyone one was here and we entered the room that was freezing cold. The boys went first to get their skates on and the girls went a few minutes later. When it was my turn I got a pink helmet, blue/black skates and some grey mittens with a pink and purple pattern on them. The downside of the mittens was that after them was they made my hands go all sweaty! When I got on the ice it was really slippery! It was as slippery as soap. I managed to get the hang of it pretty soon and ended up zooming halfway across the rink but ending up slowing down soon. I ended up falling over at least 4 times though but since the instructor taught us how to get up when you fall over i was able to get up safely. When we got back I was aching everywhere especially in my ankles. I also got a cut on my wrist from the skate but it was very tiny and did not bother me much. That was the best trip ever!

Have you been Ice Skating and if you have how many times have you fallen over?
