Bread Making and learning about yeast!

Bread Making And learning About Yeast

Last week we learned about how to make bread for science! While we were doing this we also learned at the same time about yeast and how it is a living organism. We put warm water, sugar, flour, salt and cooking oil in to make bread. Yeast loves to eat sugar and in order for it to do that it needs to eat in warm water. When it does this it multiplies and creates more yeast buddies! It will also make the bread rise and make it really yummy and nice to eat so without yeast it would not only taste bad but not rise. I would really like to make bread again because it was so yummy!

Have you ever made bread before?

Extreme Cross Country

Extreme Cross Country

It has been very hard for the past couple of weeks because of cross country. A few weeks ago we raced on the cuttlers farm and it was really challenging. We had to run through forests, mud, and up hills. I nearly fainted after because I was so tired! I ended up coming 1 in the year 7 girls! I could not believe that I was going to the inter-schools. A week later it was time to go and race in the most challenging race in my life. We had to run 3ks up hills through muddy puddles and across strait paths in the burning summer sun! When I managed to make it back coming 3rd place. But after I collapsed on the ground for a couple of minutes! I had made it to the finals and I wondered how they would go ....

Have you ever been to finals?

Learning New Zealand History

Learning New Zealand History At Te Ahu Museum.

The Te Ahu Museum trip was awesome! I learned so many facts about the far north and NZ history. I learn't about the three anchors and how one was left at sea and two were collected. One is in Te Ahu Museum the other one is Te Papa. I also saw big slabs of kauri gum there was even one that weighed 30 pounds! We also got to sniff some kauri gum tooit smelt timber and dead ants yuck!! If I had the choice to go back to the museum I would totally go because there were so many cool things to learn there. I really hope we go back there for another school trip. Thank you for reading this blog post on Te Ahu Museum.

learning Blog Post extravaganza

Learning Blog Post Extravaganza

I have enjoyed the past 2 in a half weeks of term 3 so far. My goals are still Resilience, Basic Facts, and Surface Features. I am looking forward to moving on with my goals and achieving them very soon. Literacy has been great. I have achieved finishing 2 contracts in a row now. I am really pleased I don't have to take my book home and work over the weekend. We have been researching Sandra Silberzweig too in literacy and we have found out some very interesting facts too. Math has been amazing as well. We are learning about Area and Perimeter. It is sort of challenging but fun at the same time. I am hoping to master Basic Facts by the end of this term too. Can't wait for next week!!!!!

Sandra Silberzweig

Sandra Silberzweig

One thing I learn't recently was my Sandra Silberzweig art. I learn't a lot of facts about her including where she lived which was in Toronto Canada. We decided to make some art inspired by her. What i learn't whille I was doing it was warm and cold colours . I also learn't abstract and contrast colours. This piece of art has inspired me to keep going on art and go wild with my imagination. I cant wait for my next piece of art at my school.
