The Cardioid

The Cardioid By Poppy

In Te Kahu we had a task and it was to make something called a Cardioid. A Cardioid is a curved shape that is hand-drawn and we had to make one. It was very challenging because we had to create our own chart. We had this because it helped us rule out where we needed to go with the ruler so we could draw the lines in the right place. I really loved this task because it was very calming for me and it had a bit of challenges to it as well. It also revised me on my Times Tables because we had to use them in this task. I was pretty successful with this task because the instructions were pretty easy to follow and I enjoyed it very much. I would love to do this task again because it was very fun.

My Animation!!!!! Are there any human subspecies?

My Animation on if there are any Human Subspecies?

For this weeks contract we had to create an animation based on our wonder that we want to learn more about. I did an animation on if there are any human subspecies and it turns out there is! I loved creating my animation because it was very funny, challenging and it also helped me understand the subspecies a bit more. I created about 27 slides, 6 characters at least, and about 3 different places/landscapes. My favorite part of making the animation was probably creating all of the funny characters and all of the things that they would say. Feel free to give me either feedback or feed forward it would be much appreciated! Hope you like it!

Look Through the keyhole

Looking Through A Keyhole.

At the moment in Te Kahu, there was a task for our week 3/4 Literacy Contract called the Keyhole Art. For this task we had to create what we would like to see through a keyhole and it was so much fun! I decided to draw an Enchanted Forest with a bridge leading towards it. I also added some fairies to add some effect to the forest to make it look Enchanted. My favorite part of the picture would be the center part of the picture where the bridge leads to the enchanted flowers, because they really do look magical and add a very cool effect to the picture. I think the part that I did not enjoy would be trying to draw the tree's because they were very hard to draw in a picture, and they almost ended up looking crooked! This is probably one of my favorite task that I have done so far in this term and I can't wait if we decide to do something like this again!

Digestive System Drama!

Digestive System Drama!

At the moment in Te Kahu we are learning about the Digestive System! Our task was to create an Informative report about what it is and how it works, which was very interesting for me because I did not know much about what it was, and I learn't a lot! I found out that we have something called the Esophagus in our throat's that pushes the food down when we swallow it, and I was very confused because I did not know about it. For the report I had to research, and read some Wonderopolis Article on the Digestive System so I could understand them better and that was very fun! My favorite part of the report was gathering information because I enjoyed looking at all the websites that I visited because they were very interesting. I would definitely do this task again, because it was very fun and interesting and I learned lots!

My Maori Hero!

My Maori Hero: Lisa Carrington

This week for our week 10 Contract we are focusing on selecting a Maori Hero that we want to learn about. I chose Lisa Carrington. The famous New Zealand Olympic Athlete! She is very fun to write about and I am learning lots about her! My favorite part was publishing the book about her which is still a work in progress but looks great! I also found out that Lisa used to do Nippers Surf Life Saving like me which was how she got into Flat Water Canoeing! She is a 5 time champion and people are now starting to call here New Zealand's best Olympian! I would love to do this more often because it was really fun and inspired me lots!

My new Matariki Words!

My New Matariki Words

Last week me and my class did this task from our Literacy Contract. We had to do some new words that we may not have known before and they were all in Maori and they related to Matariki. They were really challenging because I did not know what most of them mean't so we had to look them all up in the Maori dictionary, or if we could not find them there we would search them up. At the end we would all mark them and see what we got right and wrong. We also had to add five more Maori words related to Matariki, which was a little bit hard, but I enjoyed it a lot. I would love to do it again because it was really interesting.

What do you think was the hardest word and why?

Movie Study Galore!

Movie Study Galore!

At the moment in our class we are doing a task called Movie Study. It is where all of us come together and watch a certain movie and reflect on some questions related to it. It is really fun. It is now one of my favorite tasks to do. The movie that we are doing right now is called Soul Surfer. It is based on a true story of a champion surfer, Bethany Hamilton. She was busy Surfing on a beach by a reef when a massive Tiger Shark came up and bit off her arm. The rest of the story is based on how she recovers and see's that there are some things in life that are more important than Surfing.I love watching this movie and I can not wait for the next Task of our Movie Study.
