Origami Galore!!!

Origami Galore!!!
Last week in out Literacy contract we were learning how to make Origami! We had to choose out of: Snapper Puppet, Chicken, Dragon, Boat, Fish, Christmas tree, Water bomb, Penguin, Heart, Box with lid, Fox, Butterfly, and a Ninja Star. For this task I chose to do the Snapper Puppet because I thought it would look really cool and I had also never made it before so I was able to learn something new. The learning behind this was all of us learning Algorithms as we folded away our creations. This task was so much fun and I named my little Snapper: Snappy! I would love to do this again because I learn't a lot and it has inspired me to do more Origami in the future.

RWC Italy!

Rugby World Cup: Italy!!! :)

I think we all know that the Rugby World Cup is on at the moment and in our class we were given a task to study a specific country that we wanted to look into. It took me a really long time to decide which country that I wanted to and then I decided Italy. I decided Italy because I have always wanted to go to Italy, mainly because I really love the food that they have there. For our study we had to look into our country's: History, Economy, Religion, Language, Natural Features, Politics, Food (my favorite thing that I studied), Sport, Geography, and Culture. For my finished product, I decided to publish it on a brochure. The most challenging thing that was on there was outlining all of the writing because, to get better results, I had to outline it all and it was so long. This task was so much fun and I would love to do something like this again! :)

What do you know about Italy???

Month of the Rosary

Month of the Rosary

This year in the month of October, our whole school will be praying the Rosary. The Rosary is known as one of the most beautiful prayers ever, and we pray it on a beaded necklace called Rosary Beads. It is where we reflect and pray to Jesus and Mary. We keep track of what we are praying about by using Mysteries. Mysteries are not like those crime fighting problem- solving things, Mysteries are stories involving special events that happened in Jesus and Mary's life. They are things that deserve to be mentioned in the Rosary. There are 4 special Mysteries and they are: The Joyful Mysteries, The Sorrowful Mysteries, The Glorious Mysteries, and The Luminous Mysteries, or the Mysteries of Light. What I enjoy about praying the Rosary is that it is very relaxing and I enjoy praying it. I cant wait for our next session with the Rosary.

Have you ever prayed the Rosary?

Math Art: Snowflakes!

Math Art: Snowflakes!

This week in Te Kahu we had to do some Math Art which was creating a Snowflake. It was very challenging because we had to use compasses and I do not really know how to use them yet. It was really fun as well because we had to create our own pattern which was very fun because I got to be creative. I really love snowflakes as well because winter is one of my favorite seasons. The math behind this task was the lines of symmetry which was very helpful for my math. I would really like to do this task again for our Math. Feel free to comment on my Blog and I will try to reply to most of my comments. Thank you very much!

My Dot Art Preparations.

My Dot Art: Preparations

At the moment in Te Kahu, we are creating Dot Art and it is really fun. I have not yet completed it yet but I will be posting about it when I am done with it so you can see it. I have chosen to work on a dog because I love dogs very much. I chose to do all the abstract colors on my dog so the colors stand out and you can still see the shape of my dog. I am using a pencil for the fine dots and a cotton bud for all the outlines and inner colors. To create the picture we had to find a picture on Google and put it on a doc and into our learning folder so our teacher could print it off for us. Then we would get some A4 paper and trace over it on either the window for easier use or the table if it was very bold. I am really loving this art project and I would also love to do it again. I will put up a picture of the complete piece when it is done.

Wonderful Google Drawing

Wonderful Google Drawing

In Te kahu we had to do a Google Drawing on a word that we loved. I chose Wonderful. I thought of this word and I thought 'Yes this is the word' and that's when I made a Google Drawing of the word. This task was very calming and fun and I love to do tasks like this because it takes my mind away to my own world while I work. One thing challenging about this task was making all the shapes and putting them into the right place. I would really love to do this task again because it was so much fun.
